Covid-19 won’t plague us forever, but since we never know when the next global pandemic might hit, let’s learn from these crazy times and prep our homes to be ready for the next stay-at-home order. With that in mind, today I’m sharing 5 things that could make your post-pandemic home work waaaay better for you should we find ourselves in this situation again.

five things that your post-pandemic home should have:post-pandemic home

1) Mask storage

Getting ready for the day was already hard enough without having One. More. Thing. to have to remember before you leave the house. Add some small hooks near your front door so your family masks have a dedicated home and you can just grab and go.

2) A professional workspace

Working from home just got a lot more common, so it’s time to invest in an ergonomic chair and think about your Zoom background – what’s on that wall behind you, anyway? Just because you’re working from home doesn’t mean you can’t still present yourself professionally!

3) A room of your own

When everyone’s at home together it’s important that each person have a space they can call their own. Whether that’s a cozy hideaway under the stairs, their own office, or just a favorite reading chair in the living room, having a spot to call *yours* can give you a sense of calm and control in an out-of-control world.

4) Improved air flow

Lastly, make sure you have great indoor air quality inside your home. Consider installing a whole-house fan, or putting your bathroom fans on timers so you circulate the air more frequently. Open your windows daily to let in fresh air, and add some plants to boost the oxygen levels in your home. Not only will these practices help remove contaminated air from your home, they’ll also promote good air quality, making it easier to stay healthy in general!

5) OUTDOOR LIVING

Fresh air was *always* good for us, but now it’s an essential ingredient for happy home if we want to be social. Consider building a roofed-in gazebo with a gas heater for winter and mosquito netting for summer in your outdoor space. Creating an all-weather space will not only make it easier to be social while socially-distanced, but will also be good for your overall well-being.

post-pandemic home

Of course, in a best-case-scenario we will never need these things for a pandemic, but it’ll still be great to have a home that makes us happy, even if it’s just for our next staycation!
